The theme of Jane O’Sullivan’s artwork is recycling. This piece, entitled “Landfill”,
is a comment on the waste stream which is created by our throw away society.
It was inspired by the work of artist Michael Landy who shredded all of his
belongings in an old C&A building in Oxford Street in 2001; and textile artist
Michael Brennand-Wood who uses a grid system for his work, through which he
tells stories about his life and interests.
With a particular interest in the connection between identity, throw away society
and loss, Jane explores her ideas through different media (textiles, printing,
collage, painting, poetry, photography - and sometimes a mix of all these).
She uses discarded fabrics, charity shop finds and items destined for landfill.
